AR7 Entry in License Manager

  • beattyac DD 4 years, 9 months ago

I recently installed Active Reports 7 on my machine and went to the GrapeCity License Manager in hopes of activating the product, but there are no entries within it.  How do I go about getting AR7 to show within the license manager?  I have attached an image showing the license manager and the installed version of active reports.

    beattyac,

Could you please check whether you have the GrapeCity.LicenseService.ActiveReports.v7.dll present on your machine? It should be somewhere inside C:\Program Files\Common Files\ComponentOne\ActiveReportsDeveloper 7\License. Also can you please check whether the issue is not being caused due to the presence of the anti virus software on your machine? Finally can you also confirm that you have admin rights on the machine where ActiveReports 7 has been installed.

    Regards,
    Sankalp

I have GrapeCity.LicenseService.ActiveReports.v7.dll at C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\ComponentOne\ActiveReports Developer 7\License.  I do have admin rights, verified by checking the user accounts within the control panel.  Finally, it is not an anti-virus issue, because I am only using Microsoft Security Essentials and a friend’s licensing worked fine using it.

    beattyac,

I have never faced this issue at my end so would like to gather as much information as I can to reproduce this issue. Could you please provide me detailed information about the environment setup at your end? What OS are you using at the moment and is it a 32 bit machine or a 64 bit machine? What versions of Visual Studio do you have installed on your machine? Finally what is the build which you are trying to install on your machine? Any additional information provided to narrow down the issue would be appreciated.

    Regards,
    Sankalp

I am currently running Windows 7 x64 with Visual Studio 2012.  The version of Active Reports being installed is 7.05347.0.  When installing I select the option ‘Evaluate’.  Previously I had Active Reports 6 installed and licensed properly.  This issue occurred as soon as I updated to Active Reports 7.  Let me know if you need anymore information and thank you.

As a side note, I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times with both ‘evaluate’ and ‘activate later’, as well as the repair function within the installer, but none of this seemed to help.

    beattyac,

Thank you for providing the detailed information to me. I am discussing this issue with the development team here and would like to know what is the default value for the following path on your machine:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\GrapeCity\PowerTools\InstalledComponents\03566B9A-D7B3-40D9-AE12-6EC21E554555

Ideally its default value should be “GrapeCity.LicenseService.ActiveReports.v7.dll”.

    Regards,
    Sankalp

    The complete data for
    ‘Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\GrapeCity\PowerTools\InstalledComponents\03566B9A-D7B3-40D9-AE12-6EC21E554555 ‘ is
    ‘C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\ComponentOne\ActiveReports Developer 7\License\GrapeCity.LicenseService.ActiveReports.v7.dll’.

As a note, that file DOES exist on my machine at that location.

Just in case I made a typo on the above paths, I have attached an image that includes the registry key value and it’s location.

    Hello ,

Please execute the attached utility on your machine (tool just checks the registry keys and version of license assembly)

Possibly it will provide some details.

    Thanks,

    Sergey Romanov.

For anybody who comes to this issue later, it was solved by the following steps:

    1) Un-install Active Reports
    2) Delete the registry key
         SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{D31DE2FD-AF67-4711-BB89-91BE7B362655}
    3) Re-install Active Reports

    Hello,

I suggest you to try the following once and share your observations :

    - Uninstall the earlier AR7 build from your machine.

    - Download and install the last release of AR7 from here :

    http://arhelp.grapecity.com/groups/topic/activereports-7-sp3-build-7-3-7973-0-is-now-available/

    - If the issue still persists, then refer to the attached AR7 DiagnosticTool utility -> run the same on your machine and share the ‘TraceLog.txt’ file with us. It will help us to proceed further and assist you appropriately.

    Regards,
    Reema
