Drill down graphical reporting

  • jyoder 1 week, 2 days ago

We recently bought AR 11, and it’s my understanding that we cannot do graphical drill down reporting in windows-based Section Reports. However, our marketing department is curious what you have for HTML-based reporting. Am I correct in saying those are called “Page Reports”? In any case, do they allow for graphical drill-down reports? And if so, do you have a live demo and/or video we can check out to see if we want to explore this option? Thanks.

ActiveReports Page/RDL report does support Drill-Down feature.
I have attached a simple sample report and also a video file for demonstrating this feature.

You may also refer to the following Documentation link for more information on how to implement DrillDown feature in ActiveReports:

Let me know if this does not meet your expectation or if you needed anything else.

Thanks for the example. Can it also do this type of thing with graphical reports? For instance, show a pie chart, you click on the wedge, and it changes to show more detail, after which you can zoom back out? Or the same with a bar chart when clicking different bars? Examples of other such products are Tableau and Power BI. Marketing has a license for the latter, and is wondering if ActiveReports can do something similar, in Section Reports and/or Page Reports.

For having graphical Drill-Down feature in ActiveReports, you may use Page/RDL report and set the chart’s “Jump to report” property under “Action” tab to point to the report which you want to get opened on clicking/selecting the bar.
For more information on how to do this, please refer to the following Documentation link:

I have attached sample report “MainReport” (containing chart) and sample report “DetailReport” which should get opened on selecting a bar in MainReport.
*Note: Please make sure to modify the datasource of the reports, pointing towards “NWIND.mdb” db shipped along with ActiveReports.
