License AR11 and AR6

  • ajoner 1 week, 1 day ago

    Hello,
After upgrade ar6 to ar11, we get “LC.exe” error when compiled with ar6 licenses.licx.
It could compiled with remove the file licenses.licx .
Do there any other solutions to compiled with ar6 licenses.licx?

    Error detail:

    Environment:
    vs2005, ar6.0.2233.0
    vs2017, ar11.1.9726.0

Sorry, you cannot compile an application using AR11 with an AR6 licenses.licx. You need to add the relevant entries for AR11. Please refer to the following documentation link for information on which entries are required: http://arhelp.grapecity.com/webhelp/AR11/index.html#arHOWLicensingActiveReports.html

Expand the topic ‘Required references in the licenses.licx file’ under ‘Licensing a Project’ heading at the above documentation link.

    Hi AbdiasM:

We have two develop environments in the same PC.
VS2017 assembly with AR11 compiled OK.
VS2005 assembly with AR6 will occur with “LC.exe” error when compiled.(After we upgrade)

Could licensed AR11 and AR6 both in the same PC ?

    best regards.

You can license AR11 and AR6 in the same PC, however AR11 won’t work with VS2005; the minimum required .NET framework version is 3.5. So you will need to upgrade your application to VS2010 or higher and then upgrade to AR11. Also, make sure you have added the required entries for AR11 in Licenses.licx file as I mentioned in the last reply.

    Dear AbdiasM:

Everything is fine with our new application in vs2017 assembly AR11.

Only one problem now is we could not compile our previous version application if .csproj EmbeddedResource licenses.licx.
It is in vs2005 assembly AR6.

Thanks for your reply, best regards.

It seems that AR6 is not licensed correctly on your machine. Kindly take a look at the following documentation link for instructions on licensing your machine : http://arhelp.grapecity.com/webhelp/Legacy/ActiveReports6/webframe.html

Open the topic ‘License your ActiveReports’ and expand ‘To license a trial version of ActiveReports without reinstalling’

Once you’ve licensed the machine, you can re-build your application. Hope it helps.

    Dear AbdiasM:

It did not work after license without reinstalling.
    Still have “LC.exe” error.

    best regards.

Can you please check if the license is correctly activated on your machine? You can check this by running the WebKeyGenerator utility from the AR installed location. When you run this utility, you should be able to see the Serial key. If the machine is not licensed, you’ll see something like in the attached screen shot.
Please send across a screen shot of what you see at your end.

The screen shot you’ve sent is of the WebKeyGenerator for AR11. Please run the AR6 WebkeyGenerator found at the following location: C:\Program Files\Common Files\GrapeCity\ActiveReports 6
and send a screen shot of this

Could not find file “WebkeyGenerator” in the path “C:\Program Files (x86)\GrapeCity\ActiveReports 6″.
    Our AR6 version is 6.0.2233.0.
    Does it matter with version?

Sorry, the path you’re navigating to, is incorrect. You might have overlooked it. You need to look under C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\
The assemblies and utilities are installed under the ‘Common Files’ folder.

Also, as you’re using version 6.0.2233.0, I would suggest you to download SP3 of AR6 -http://cdn.grapecity.com/ActiveReports/legacy/ar6_6.3.4797.zip
